Hello Seattle Blues Dancers,
This is Ted
Maddry writing from San Francisco, where I've been hanging my hat and running Beyond Blues, and I'm writing to invite you to share in food,
fun, and training with some of the best and most active blues
dancers in the San Francisco Bay area. I miss dancing in Seattle, and it would be great to have have some of you drive down, or stay down after Down Home Blues.
I’m talking
of course, about Camp Blues #5, spanning four
whole days from August 12 - 15.
If you've
never participated in a Camp Blues event, this is your best opportunity
to immerse yourself into an atmosphere dedicated solely to developing
your mastery on the floor and creating a role for you in a network
of experienced dancers.
At Camp
Blues, our goal is to redefine you as a "whole" dancer - not just by
improving your technique and grace (although we focus carefully on
this). We seek to facilitate a transformation of your
confidence, your relationship to the dance community, and your
connection to your body.
For those
who experienced Camp Blues before, we're mixing some proven veteran
instructors with some exciting new faces. The lineup will include: Mike "The Girl"
Legett (Philly); Reuel Reis (Nashville/New Orleans); Brenda Russell
(Portland); San Francisco's very own Ruth Hoffman, just back from a Bali
teaching tour, and me! Ted Maddry. Both Mike and Reuel are staying on from Down Home Blues, so you'll have a chance to get a wide sample of their material in big classes, then get to know them at Camp Blues.
We've
planned the camp to make sure you get the maximum training and fun for
your money. Here's what you can expect when you participate in Camp Blues #5:
- You’ll
spend 4 days (3 nights) taking classes with some of the finest blues
dancers in the country in a 4:1 student/teacher ratio.
- In
classes and workshops you'll receive hours of semi-private
instruction that will leave you eagerly excited to try out your new
skills on the dance floor.
- You'll
be able to make the most of your moves each night by attending scheduled
house parties and public dances (optional) in a relaxing atmosphere
of friends and entertainment.
- You’ll eat together as a group for breakfast and lunch for all 4 days
of your stay. We'll be preparing one large meal as a group, and can
accommodate for vegetarian and special diet requests.
- You’ll
swap dances and dance tips with high-level professional dancers in the
Bay area and develop your role as a member of the dance community.
Just ask anyone who's been through a Camp
Blues event (Topher's taught at the last few of them and Bryna and Josh Sacks were at the latest one): after spending four nights training and dancing with great
friends and top instructors, your confidence and dancing will completely
change.
I'm so
convinced that Camp Blues will improve your dancing that I have included
a money-back guarantee. As an extra incentive, If you register by
August 5th you'll receive $155 off the price of admission. And if you can come early and stay the week, make sure you hit Down Home Blues too! The two together are an amazing Blues Dance Summer vacation.
Come join me and dozens of
other eager dancers like yourself for an experience that you'll never
forget.

All my best,
Ted
