I am a bit late in getting started, but I am trying to get Basics of Archives classes scheduled for October. We are a bit thin in our fall teaching roster. Both Scott Sackett and I will be on leave in October. I’ve spoken with a couple of people so far, but I would like to know when folks would be available to conduct a BACE class and what days you would absolutely be unavailable. Ideally, I’d like to schedule four, but three is a more realistic number; one in Seattle, one in south (we’ve never done one in Vancouver) and one north – Everett or Bellingham. Participation has been so poor in Spokane/Cheney that I don’t feel it’s worth going through the motions of scheduling, then cancelling. Any suggestions for class locations or possible recruits for instructions are welcomed.
I am also appealing to those involved in Archives Month planning to consider joining our merry band of instructors. Training involves sitting through a presentation once. WSHRAB does not pay instructors for their time, but we can reimburse for travel expenses. We currently have a disproportionate number of government archivists and I would love to add some manuscript archivists. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
