Welcome to the google group for the Seattle Android User Group! I'm
hoping to put this group together to bring together individuals with a
common interest in the Android platform released by Google. It is
still a new platform so not many may know about it but I think
starting this group early is a good way to go.

I created the google group as a place where people can join to show
their interest in the group. After we get more members I hope to setup
meetings where we can cover features of Android and learn about the
platform in a fun environment.

Hi Mitchell

I'm glad you started the group. I have a suggestion. Why don't we
actually have a meeting next week. Here is what I would like to do. I
would like each of us to do some "homework" before the meeting. And
that would be to go through the notepad sample app line by line and
comment it so that we understand what every line of the program is
doing.

Once we have done that, then we get together and talk about the app.
We could meet in one of the public libraries or the UW library. I like
the Bellevue library because it has lots of free parking. Maybe we
could meet next Wednesday at 7pm.

Does that sound like something you guys might be interested in?

UW is probably 2-3 hours away for me. When I think seattle, I think
downtown. :p But if we get enough people serious about it, I might be
willing to head on out. Heads up though, I'm not the best programmer,
more ideas man. But that "homework" should help.

How about those of us far away from the US. How do you we get access
to the details of the face to face meeting. May be we could get a
written form
of it posted to this list.

Will be really curious about what happens.

If downtown is better for people, I can certainly go downtown. Maybe
the Seattle public library? I don't know, I'm open for suggestions.
Parking downtown is a real beeotch and seems to always cost lots of
money.

I am at the University of Washington so thats easiest for me but if
downtown is easier I can go there also. I'm originally from California
and just moved up here this past summer so I don't know the area well
at all, so if anyone has any ideas I'm totally open.

And parking isn't a problem for me, I take the bus ;]

Yeah, the Library isn't too far from the ferry terminal if I recall. I
could probably do a walk on. I have an idea for an app that would be
great... though we don't have the supporting libraries yet. but
suppossedly we will.

I'm down for anywhere in Seattle, I'm in LQA and I have a car, so I
can get everywhere pretty quickly. I'd really rather not drive to the
Eastside, that wouldn't be a Seattle group anymore :-) .

It sounds like everyone is pretty much geared towards downtown. Do you
want to meet at the Seattle public library at 7pm on Wednesday? If you
guys are into it, I'll call them and try to get one of those little
conference rooms.

Hi Nick

I actually work 5 PM to 2 AM on wednesday... :-\ (I work at the
University Village Apple Store as a Mac Specialist). So if enough
people can go I wouldn't say anything against this time except I won't
be able to attend, which is rather disappointing. Any other time is
much better. Maybe this week isn't the best week because of
thanksgiving and all...

Unfortunately I work 9-5 at a traditional desk, and won't be able to
make any meetings before 5 M-F. However I'll be pretty busy this week
anyway, so you guys do whatever's best. I won't be able to make
anything from Thurs 22 - Tues 27th.

Thanks for starting this. I actually live in Calgary but I travel to
Seattle and SF frequently. If I am able to adjust my schedule I would
love to attend.
