Hi
I have a 1981 Sea Spray 15 - it's been in my family since new, and I'm trying to get it in the water again. The aluminum tube that is normally mounted at the bow between the hulls cracked a long time ago and is long gone - can anyone give me the size of that tube (1-1/2", 2"??) ?

A picture of the ends of the tube mounted to the boat would also really be apreciated - I kind of remember there being aluminum castings in the ends to mount it to the hulls... of course they are gone with the broken tube.

Another thing I need to do is open the hulls at the rear to replace the plywood in the transom, because the mounts for the rudders are loose (transom almost certainly rotted out). I also suspect the hulls have the foam that gets waterlogged and should be removed. I have heard that you "split" the seam between upper & lower hull with something like a sharp putty knife, but this seems to be impossible on this boat. The seams are only about 1/8 of an inch wide, and there is no evidence of a parting line between top & bottom. Does anyone have any further info, tips or suggestions about this procedure?
