It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Bishop Marion Edwards last evening.  Bishop Edwards was elected bishop in 1996 and appointed to serve the Raleigh Episcopal Area (The North Carolina Conference) in September of that year.  After serving effectively for eight years as our bishop, Marion retired to his home near Columbus, Ga., and served for a time at LaGrange College as Bishop in Residence.  He was diagnosed with cancer almost 3 years ago and fought a valiant fight until stopping treatment before Christmas.

Bishop Edwards was a dear friend and a beloved leader of our church.  Your prayers for his family, especially his wife Linda, are appreciated.
