Hi-

I've just had some free time so I'm finishing up some work I started
sometime last year. Primarily, the Merging layers stuff that I started
(and have been in the SVN builds) but never got around to finishing.
In the latest commit I've made a few changes to the menubar, the
addition of the Merge Down command and the Copy Merged command.
Because of these commands I've changed the shortcuts around a little.
To match photoshop Merge Down is command-e. Since that is currently
used in the Auto-trim menu, i changed the auto trim combos to Command-
t and Command-Shift-t. One other layers-based fix I made was the New
Layer button was broken when a selection was floating.

Also, as per a suggestion on the group I changed the zoom commands to
match the Mac OS X standard (Command plus and Command minus).

There are a couple other changes I made surrounding units-- now the
units will be correctly set when a document is created from the
pasteboard (before they would only be set on new images from the new
image panel). Also, because we're not doing the click-to-change
anymore I'm changing the units labels from buttons to text fields
(there was also something wrong with the dimensions of the info panel,
it was like the default size was less than the minimum size, so I've
tweaked that as well).

Three things that are not in this latest revision but I think would be
good ideas, pending discussion. There was the suggestion on the group
to remove the margins on the utility windows. I think this is a good
idea, since that is a lot of wasted space now. Also, I think we should
make our document icons better looking. Right now they don't really
have much of a border, so are hard to identify on light backgrounds.
I'll attach a suggestion, though I'm obviously not a graphics artist.
Finally, I know we're "feature complete" and thus we shouldn't be
working on adding new features-- however It's been over a year now and
nothing has happened in terms of release. Because of that, I'm
certainly interested on working on more of the pending feature
requests. A couple in the file that I think would be straightforward
would be to have handles on cropping selections and to have some kind
of visual feedback when dragging with the gradient tool.

Also, I've noticed a few people on this group are interested in
helping, however I don't know what kind of plan we have for adding
more people to the project. I think that adding more people would be
cool, if there were contained features that they would want to work
on.

Hi Stephen,

I just saw your latest changes to the SVN and I think they're great.

After a failing to return to working on Seashore over several months I
have decided to step down as project leader after the next 0.2.0
release.

I now plan to rush through the previous interface as the 0.2.0
release. The reason for using the previous interface is simply because
the new interface has not yet been bug-tested.

If you would like to take on the role of leader for the project, I am
happy to hand the project over to you after the next 0.2.0 release.
Otherwise I will list the Seashore project as in need of a leader.

I wish I had the time to write a lengthier note to you before my
departure but past experience has shown, if I plan spending too much
time on any one Seashore task, I end up not doing it at all.

Let me know whether or not you would like to become the project leader.

Regards,
Mark Pazolli

Hi Mark-

It's too bad that you don't want to continue in your past role, I
think where Seashore has gone so far is really amazing. That being
said, I would be willing to take over as project leader if you no
longer want to have that responsibility. I'm sure that you can figure
out what all i need to take over the leadership of the project, in
terms of access to the sourceforge resources (such as the website).

Obviously, I would greatly appreciate it if you wanted to continue to
contribute, if in a different role, but if you feel like you no longer
want to be involved I'd understand. Whatever you decide, I hope that
things go well for you.

As for the latest Seashore release, if you would like to get the 0.2.0
release out without my most recent changes I think that'd be great.
Although I've put a lot of work into them, there are still tons of
bugs that have to be worked out. Now if only there were more people on
the project that could help me out with them ^_^
