Coast guard rescues fishing boat in distress 21 NM off Kochi

this is encouraging news, the fact that they organised a rescue just 21 NM off the coast. also, this happened only bc an oil tanker MT Tilakkam, port of registry not mentioned, sent out a distress call that the coast guard simply cannot miss. 

so the thing is, the fishermen managed by either hand signals or whatever means to attract the attention of a passing merchant ship and communicate their distress. 

the boat was allegedly flooding which means either a crack or something that messed up the hull's watertight integrity. the detailed media report says the coast guard managed to stop the leak and then picked up the men and towed the boat back to Munambam.

here's the link to a tweet thread posted by defence PRO that has good photos and a video clip. the weather was good fortunately as we are now in a gap period of the monsoon but there is still some wind but not worrying in any way.
