Fisherman succumbs to burn injuries in cooking accident on fishing boat

*One of the important 'preparations' we do during rough weather in merchant ships is to ban all deep frying in the galley that involve heating oil in an open pan simply bc of the unpredictable and sudden movements during rough seas. We don't fry eggs or even make an omlette. 

A 23-year-old fisherman succumbed to burn injuries he sustained in a cooking accident on a fishing boat.

The deceased has been identified as Naveen Govinda (23), from Belamber village in Ankola taluk. Naveen was working at Malpe port.

On August 5, while preparing a meal on the Sheshadri fishing boat, the vessel was rocked by rough waves, causing Naveen to fall into a pan of hot oil placed on the gas stove. He sustained severe burn injuries to his face and right arm and was immediately admitted to a hospital in Manipal for treatment.

Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, he passed away on September 26 night.
