Hello Carolina,
I really miss you, and I wish you could have
stayed. How is school in Brazil? Do you know anybody there?
How is your family? I’ll tell you a story. On the day after school
ended, May 20, my family and I were doing our, such as to call it, spring
cleaning. When my sister and I were done with our jobs we were playing
shoe-kick on the swing in our backyard. I accidentally kicked my right
shoe too high and it landed at the top of a tall birch tree! I tried
everything to get it down: climbing the tree, swinging a low branch, throwing
basketballs and soccer balls in the air, but still I couldn’t get it down.
I did something dumb and funny. I went inside my house, picked up some
packaging tape, paper, and a marker, went to a table and wrote this: HERE HANGS
NATHAN’S RIGHT SHOE, GOD BLESS A GOOD SHOE, MAY HE REST IN PEACE. I taped
the sign up on the tree and laid the other shoe at the bottom of the tree.
Then I took a garden stake with streamers on it and pounded it into the
ground. It was like a little funeral. When we came back from dinner
that night the shoe that was in the tree was laying on the ground! The
wind blew it down! Alleluia!
Well, I better get going.
I miss you lots,
Nathan Marshall
P.S. Tell your mom that I DO NOT like cranberry
juice!
