Codemastershas announced DiRT 3 has finally made its way to the Steamworks finish line after several months of Steam users continuously reminding the developer they need to ditch Games for Windows Live. The result is a game that is 100% completely without any sort of reliance on the now closed platform.
Those who own the GFWL version of DiRT 3 in their Steam Library should now be able to access the Complete Edition as well. If you have a boxed PC copy of DiRT 3 or have a GFWL CD Key, you can now activate that CD key on Steam.
DiRT 3 finally making the transition to Steamworks is definitely a good thing, although we certainly feel the pain of all of those who own the GFWL version since their save file won't be transferable. At least you'll now get the Complete Edition of the game to help compensate.
My friend and I were building houses. I built one out of dirt, he did wood. He said mine was crap, I told him, "Well, It was just a joke. I was going to build mine out of wood and cobble. To spice it up!". We then went off and went mining. Later a server griefer came and put fire all around the houses. When we came back, we saw his house go to waist! From then I noticed that dirt is better then wood when building houses. As its easy to get, it doesn't burn down. The negatives are, its easy to explode (like wood), easy to mine (a little big worse then wood), It looks UGLI. And pro players will just say your crap at minecraft. I've tried a survival with a dirt house, it ended out pretty good. So give me your thoughts, which is better dirt or wood?
I'm making a mod-pack, that is like a minecraft server with mini-games, etc. It has fake players, (About 500 fake players). But I hope it ends out good, If you guys want it, keep giving me good idea's and support!
I think you have a great point. There are benefits to both a wood house, and a dirt house. As with everything in minecraft, it all comes down to personal preference. It doesn't really matter which one is better.
Like everything else in life, it's a contextual matter. Is dirt better than wood? Yes, but only on multiplayer if it's well disguised. On the other hand, if you're on singleplayer, you might want to go with wood as it has a higher blast resistance.
If you're more of a builder type of guy like me, then you will obviously choose wood over noobish dirt. If you are on a server that allows griefing, instead of making a dirt house, I suggest making one underground. Yes, X-RAY hax users will be able to find it. But I have an underground base on this one factions server (I've had it for a few months), and I have never been raided of griefed.
I use wood because it looks better. But if you are on a server with prankers or a normal world it saves you lots of wood (and maybe your house) so I would say dirt is better but it looks bad. and wood is better for looking good but can have a few more down sides then upsides
As I said to WolfSage, being underground would be a good point. I know about builders, they don't like dirt. But still making houses out of dirt could save you some time! And remember, fire doesn't burn it.
It depends; on a creative server where they are focused on building it is a slap in the face to the others on the server. On a server where greifing is common survival is the real point anyway; so it will most likely be concealed with a bud sensor activated using a hoe or the like for entry. There is nothing "noobish" about using dirt if the situation calls for it.
A "creative" build server don't necessarily mean building in creative. I guess I'm saying be respectful to others around you and don't just doing because it is easy. Most of these type servers don't allow greifing so there would be no point of it there anyway.
While dirt may protect you from griefers... no sane person builds right next to spawn on a populated server without land protection. I generally only use dirt for farms and for terraforming, which takes more than enough dirt when making a large scale underground farm.
No two landings are identical, and The Faction II comes in three sizes to accommodate your body and style. If you're mostly made of legs, or you prefer a mountain bike feel in your DJ, the large will be a welcome companion. For added BMX character and shorter inseams, one of the smaller sizes may hit the fit. Faction frames offer the angles you want to float a few meters above the earth.
We've amplified the simplified with this limited run of complete builds to save you some internet noodling. From the top shelf, just behind that half-drained bottle of Patrone, sits the trusted RockShox Pike DJ fork. At its bow and stern, the Faction II spins a set of 26" Novatec Crisp hoops shod in Maxxis DTH tread to grip the earth or concrete. A fully Evil cockpit is poised above for that skate park or trail rip into the ether, and a single SRAM G2 stopper will pull you back from the edge.
