Searchbar Autosizer does not work in Firefox 43 and later

The Firefox devs changed the code for the searchbar in FF 43 and, as such, many of the add-ons that have to do with the search bar no longer work including Searchbar Autosizer.
I like this add-on very much and even donated after I installed it.
I am hoping Kevin (or someone else) will come to our rescue and update this handy add-on.
But, it has been a couple of years since the last update so we may have to bury this add-on, like many others, in the great add-on graveyard.

As I have said in reply to other messages in this list I am not using the extension anymore so I am unlikely to update it myself. However I would me more then happy to help someone else make changes and eventually guide them to maintaining the extension.
The code is quite clean and if it is just a change in the layout of the searchbar it shouldn't be too hard to update, however I haven't looked at the changes so I can't say for certain.
