                          ** CALL FOR PAPERS **

        SoCS-22: the 15th International Symposium on Combinatorial Search

                Doctoral Consortium

SoCS Doctoral Consortium

The Doctoral Consortium (DC) is aimed at providing Ph.D. students with the opportunity to closely engage with established researchers, and to get feedback on their research, provide advice on career possibilities, and foster networking.

As part of the Doctoral Consortium, SoCS will provide senior graduate students with an opportunity for in-depth advice by senior members of the field regarding careers and research skills. Each student accepted to the DC (see below for the acceptance procedure)  will be matched with an established researcher in the field, who will assist the student with research and career management advice.

We invite current doctoral students to apply.

Application Procedure for the Doctoral Consortium

To participate in the Doctoral Consortium, an application is required. Applicants for the Doctoral Consortium should submit a single PDF file at (Doctoral Consortium track) containing the following:

  1. Extended Abstract: Students should submit an abstract describing their research that must fall into the topics of interest of SOCS-22. Abstracts must be no longer than 2 pages including references, and formatted in AAAI two-column, camera-ready style. Papers exceeding the specified length and formatting requirements are subject to rejection without review. The abstract must include the following: title; the primary author’s full name, affiliation, postal address, phone number, URL (if available), and e-mail address; all co-authors' full names and affiliations; text; and any figures, tables, or diagrams.

  2. Ph.D. Statement: A letter from the candidate’s Ph.D. advisor, program coordinator, or the school administration confirming the applicant’s enrollment in the Ph.D. program.

Important Dates for Doctoral Consortium:

* Submission deadline: April 8, 2022

* Notification date: April 29, 2022

* Camera-ready date: May 13, 2022

* Doctoral Consortium: June 21-23, 2022

Student Support

SoCS will aim at providing student support partly covering travel and/or registration costs through a separate scholarship application process. Participation in the DC, however, is a requirement for students receiving travel assistance. Details about student support will be published soon at

Proceedings Publishing

A selection of the accepted extended abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings. Selected students will be required to transfer copyright of the abstract to AAAI. A copy of the AAAI copyright form is available in the AAAI author kit. At the time of camera-ready copy submission, authors will be required to include a “Student Abstract” designation in the title of their paper (instructions will be sent regarding format).
