I have been searching for a way to take my kids swimming on a regular
basis (that does not entail paying for swimming lessons).
The Downtown Community Center does not work for us because of the
limited family swim time hours,
and I do not want to pay a yearly membership for pool use that many
of the private pools require.

So, I spoke with Spa 88 on Fulton Street.
They have a pool which is kept at decent temperature, a jacuzzi that
is not too hot, lounge areas, a restaurant serving russian dishes and
fresh squeezed oj (and beer!)
and decent locker rooms with showers. Of course they also have the
saunas/steam/plunge pool etc....

Entrance is usually $35 and free for kids under 5, $20 for kids over 5

If I am able to put together a group of interested people, Spa 88
would be willing to create a "swim package" for us...
something along the lines of:
$20 per adult and free for kids and under 5 ($tbd for kids over 5)
allowing access to the pool, lounge, restaurant, locker room and
towels (but not saunas)
for an unlimited number of hours of use, which means you could swim,
have lunch, keep swimming....or swim all afternoon and have dinner
before heading home...
You would only be obliged to buy a "pay as you go membership package'
in groups of 10....meaning 10 entrances at $20....allowing more than
one adult to go at time, allowing you to go as many or few times a
week/year as you like.

on Mon-Fri they open at 11am
on Sat and Sunday they open at 9am

This might be of particular interest to people living in Fidi and the
Seaport.
Our family has been going for years and it is a fairly kid friendly,
well maintained place (the Russian families are always there with kids).

If you are interested at all, please email me at yasgirl "at"
earthlink 'dot' net.

Hopefully this will work out to be a flexible and reasonably priced
way to get us swimming in our neighborhood!

Thanks,

Yasmeen
