man, this song has restored my faith. last LP was good, great instinct, and some classic songs. i appreciated they listened to their circle and kept things raw and experimental. and yet, production
was muddled sometimes. Peter left, again. i watched recent live vids w/ this incarnation, and i was scared. some of that could be chalked up to live phone recording. but now, this single is knocking me out.
...the almost constant riff (that card goes back to Seance maybe), 2:01 break, Ian ebow, bass vi leading/copping the guitar, classical guitar and alternate mandolin flourishes, Tim chorus vox,
violins, pianos, breaths. an onion, as they say. and so well produced.
after digging more...apparently Gilt Trip had a song, Hypnogogue on Egyptian Register. i only have the first Gilt Trip. never heard that one. anyone care to chime in on that?
