Once upon a time, two months after Steve Kilbey and Martin Kennedy began their pledge for their third album “You Are Everything”, I have decided to be an active part of it by commissioning them a song.
Having my own song crafted by these men I admire so much, a secret dream that I made come true by hitting the pledge button on Christmas day, 2012. A kind of revenge against life because I was a poor man in my younger days, a time when music was expensive and hard to get.
Ironically, because I know things are not eternal, I have asked for “a short song about eternity”, nothing more.
The song came to me a few days ago. I was so thrilled to listen to it ! And a bit anxious too : neither Steve Kilbey nor Martin Kennedy know me, why would they bother writing a good song for a stupid frenchman spending his money ordering them to do so ?
The next day, after many many listens, it became obvious that this oh-so-inspired-song-making-my-heart-beat-fast was not meant to be only mine. It would be the selfishest act to keep it for me and not tell the world about it.
I opened the cage of the song to let it fly to other media players. Of course I let them decide if they want to.
“Now you are free, my dearest song, come back to your fathers and tell them I have released you for good. They can share you with their other friends, and tell them not to forget to pay you live tributes”.
Who will conquer eternity ? Steve Kilbey, Martin Kennedy, their music and words, with no doubt their next album “You Are Everything”, not me but it doesn’t matter.
I hope you seancers will be as happy as me with this song, and don’t forget you can still pledge to help Martin and Steve to promote the album.
