Strong new single. Still my favorite band. Best mix of propulsive jangle and new wave aloofness. Lyrics by turns profound and corny. Puts me in mind of 1986 when I was but a wee lad wandering lonely through the fields and mallscapes…

Ashamedly, I admit that I can be a harsh critic of new Church music when I first hear it. Only because I love what came before, and the new music is often so different that my initial impression lets me down. On first listen to AENT I hated it, thought it was a snoozer with no energy at all and with boring guitar lines. Then I came to realize it was a masterpiece.

As to this new song, the harsh critic in me has nothing bad to say about it. I really, really like it!

As to the previous comment Able made about 'corny' lyrics, I don't hear it. Lyrics/vocals/bass were really good, harmony/backing vocals good and interesting. Great guitar lines throughout including some nice 12-string in the outro. The mood of the song is excellent, and I can see a little what Alan meant in referencing Seance. And as Alan also said, this makes "two for two" great new songs!

Alan, I agree that it has a Seancey vibe.  That's probably why I loved it right away.  Centuryhouse, I guess "corny" sounds too critical, and I didn't mean it to be. I was referencing the way his lyrics can be profound/poetic one second and then just playful or rhymey the next.
