AC Hours/Holiday shuffle

Hey AC team,

 

All kinds of sites opening/closing and people looking to pick up hours this month, so here’s some info that should help. Please read soon and decide where you will be filling in and contact people by the end of this week.

 

·         A calendar is attached showing which sites are open and can take extra AC. If your site is closed (“X”), see who else is open that day who you want to help out. Please contact the people in parentheses and tell them what days you will show up to help them. A description of the projects is below.

 

·         For AC looking to pick up extra hours, there are projects in the office every Monday from here on out. See descriptions below and contact Ali or Gena.

 

·         The Repair Team and West Way can also take extra AC next Monday (11/25, before Thanksgiving).  

 

·         The Repair team (led by Gregg and Vaness) can also take extra people your last week, 12/17-20, in case LF folks don’t want to be in the office all that week.

 

·         Currently it looks like all sites will be closed the Saturday after Thanksgiving. If you really need to serve that day for your hours, you can set up outside volunteering somewhere at an organization with a related mission (serving low-income, or housing/disaster related). Let me know in advance if you will be doing this and where.

 

·         Special Dates: Holiday Party Thurs 12/12 in the evening (see other email), AC Team Retreat Friday 12/13 (No AC on sites that day), and we may try to do the last half of the day in the office together on 12/20, or set up something after hours, I will let you know.

 

 

Projects you can join on other sites (only if your site doesn’t need you):

 

·         West Way, Mon 11/25 only—     

o   Cory will be supervising onsite and there’s a ton of work to do. Cory Briscoe (coryb...@gmail.com)

·         Repair Team, 11/25-27, 12/17-20—           

o   Kristina will be there Mon. 11/25, then Gregg and Vanessa will run Snoqualmie Ridge repairs the other days listed here. Let Kristina know soon if you will help out there and which days so she can set up enough work. Let Gregg & Vanessa Know when you’re coming.

·         Office Project (Family Services), 11/25-27,  Mondays in December,  12/16-20—

o   Ali has a massive project of entering data from past homeowners into our new HomeKeeper database. If you are interested in helping any of these days, please plan on coming in either 11/25 or 11/26 so Ali can train you, then you can come in any other days mentioned to help with data entry.

·         Office Projects (Marketing), 11/25-27,  Mondays in December,  12/16-20—

        Gena has a number of 1-2 day projects. You could pick up 1 or all. Best if you have some experience with the tools needed:

o   Online slideshow. Help create a 7-8 slide web-based slideshow. Content will be cut & pasted, but trick will be finding the right platform online to make it work. Experience with Adobe products probably needed.

o   One-minute photo slideshow with music: arrange 2013 pictures of Habitat’s accomplishments into a video slideshow with music, using Windows Movie Maker.

o   Business Card data entry. Enter details from about 200 business cards into excel or Raiser’s Edge. Might go faster with a phone app that can take pictures and read the data. (Note, this is for someone who has interest in a marketing/fundraising career path who has not used all their Life After AmeriCorps training hours).
