Dear all,

I have found that when I delete a file from my "synced" seafile folder, the file is in fact not deleted from the hard disk.
I can always restore it later if I need.
Is there a way to delete the file forever ?

I think in the future, it could bring 2 potential problems:
1/ Hard disk issue, with the time, the repository will grow and grow with all the deleted files that are not needed anymore
2/ If I decide to delete confidential files, I don't want the files to be recover anymore. I want to delete the file forever

I'm thinking how is the database and the data mapping done today in seafile ?
Is there a way to delete the files forever ? Optionally or following a configuration file ?

Thank you very much,
Regards,
R. Dubois

In a library's settings, you can choose the length of history to store. If you do not store history at all, when a file is deleted, you can revoke its space by running gc. See https://github.com/haiwen/seafile/wiki/Garbage-Collecting-Unused-Blocks-on-Seafile-Server for details.
