Hi, folks

I'm planning a hike for interested Sea Warriors, general details below.
I have 5 or 6 of the Morgan Stanley team interested so far. Would any
of the GT folks care to join the expedition?

Time for a hike! Breakneck Ridge is the most exciting hike in the lower
Hudson Valley. This time of year it shouldn’t be crowded. It’s an
hour to ninety minutes of rock scramble. It sounds harder than it is,
but it is steep and a bit scary in places if one is afraid of heights.


· While steep and difficult in places, there are many chances
to take a break, enjoy the views which go from nice to spectacular as
the climb progresses, and recover for the next segment.

· After 90 minutes the bulk of the climbing is done, and then
there’s downward to flat hiking. Depending on route back to the car,
we may pass some streams, a small lake with dam, old abandoned dairy
farm buildings and related ruins. It’s not a perfect loop, so we come
back to the road about 4/10 of a mile from the car and need to walk
along 9W for 15 minutes or so.

· Five hours on the trail if we take the longer, most
interesting route, I’d say, including breaks and lunch, an hour
shorter if we take alternate/shorter routes.

General timeline, open to change per team preferences:

· Pick up around 9, car pooling details TBD

· Hiking by 10:30

· Lunch break around 12:30

· Back to car around 3:30

· City around 5

No age limitation. They can do it but it’s steep climbing up the rocks so you just have to help them going up. I see kids on the trail.

The rock scramble is the most challenging part but it is a team effort to get everyone up to the top.  As long as they are not afraid of heights or climbing rocks they should be ok.  Even me and Bob made it up lol.

I did this hike before and also saw kids on the trail.  Like Thien said, it is steep in some parts.  Their small height will make it more difficult for them, and will need help.  But then again, your kids are monkeys-they might just scramble up there with ease and make us look like fools.

We are still on for Dec. 2...  start coming over around 10 AM...  bfast snack then we can walk to Hoboken and Hudson River waterfront...  lunch starts 12 noon.

I will have food and sodas...  meat and veges.  Just bring your beer.
