Team,
Past recent years the Seadogs has gone through many changes. I, myself included, has changed a great deal in the direction of Dragon Boating. Personally, I feel that the current makeup of the Seadogs are holding me back from my competitive nature and I need to be on top of my game. Especially, if I were to attend World Championships. I’ve given my heart and soul to the Seadogs. However, it seems I have no place in the team anymore. The crew is heading towards a recreational route and there’s nothing wrong with this. The super competitive side of me think otherwise. This is why it’s time for me to step down as Head Coach.
The leaders are already informed of my decision and I’m sorry if this is shocking news. I’m sure the team will recover quickly as you have great leaders and a coach on hand.
In the coming days you’ll see me at the marina as I will be joining DCH. My plan is to help DCH in developing a Senior (40+) crew as early as next season. So, please continue to say hi to me.
It was an honor for me to serve all of you and I hope you respect my decision.
Peter

Tanisha,
Yes. I am very sad that this day had to come. Seadogs are my family and it’s very difficult for me to depart. However, I need to look into the future and I don’t see myself with the team anymore.
Thank you for the kind words and I’m glad I can help you excel in paddling. That is my job after all. Where ever you may be or paddling with, I’ll always be your Coach.
Peter

Thank you Peter!
It's sad to see the Seadogs come to end, but I'm happy I was able to be a part of this awesome team for the last 5.5 years. Peter you taught me so much throughout the years, you pushed me to want more and to except more, both in and out of the boat and I can't thank you enough. I always tell people about how I started in the back of your boat and how little by little you moved me up, until one day you sat me behind you and said this will be your seat for now on. From that day forth I made sure every practice I gave it my all because I didn't want to let you down, and even still to this day I paddle with the thought of never letting you down even if we are no longer on the same team..
Just a few words I wanted to express to you.
Thanks for Believing in me Peter, I wouldn't be the paddler I am today if it wasn't for you!!!!!

Dan,
Thanks for understanding. Just remember all the key points and you’ll excel even more in paddling. I do expect you to try-out for the National Team again this fall.

Thank you Peter for everything you have done, and all the great memories. I certainly understand.
You have been my coach for close to 10 years now.
I never really wanted to be in any other team than this one mainly because I admire your coaching style.
Thanks for all the help and guidance over the years - and for helping me be part of the ICF crew this past year.
I am really going to miss you being my coach here for Seadogs

Rob,
It’s great to hear from you again. I wished it was better circumstances. Yes. I do remember that you were coaching your own team and I’m proud you were able to utilized what you learn from me. It shows that I’m doing something right. Thanks again for reaching out and I hope to see you on the water!

Hey Peter, I'm sorry to hear you're stepping down as HC of the Seadogs. It's been awhile since I last paddled with you (3 years to be exact) and some of the other members, but I wish you the best in your future endeavors. As a paddler, I have to say I learned the most about mechanics from you and that you were the most hands-on coach I ever had in my short time doing dragonboat. Sometimes, it is hard to see your immense influence on the dragonboat scene but your coaching influenced my coaching for NY Presbyterian's team back when it was being built into more than just a recreational team. You are a key reason for their sustained success as a dragonboat program because I utilized a lot of the methods you used to instruct me when I was still active while I was coaching them on the side. Like all good things on the rise though, Dch came along and took over once I stopped coaching that team and paddling to join PD, lol.
I think I came on when you had a huge turnover in your roster and the fact that you kept on plugging away is a testament to your competitive spirit and your love for the sport and team you had a big hand in getting off the ground. Don't ever change. Dch is lucky to get you back and I'm confident you're going to do amazing things on the 40+ team. I hope you Brenda and the kids are doing well. Maybe I'll see you out on the water one day if I ever get around to trying out for the NYPD team. Thanks for everything you taught me coach!

Yes. It’s sad that I’m leaving but given the current situation it’s difficult for me to continue.

Hi Peter,
Surprise and very sad news you stepped down coaching the Seadogs (you will be missed) but glad you're moving on to new challenges that will make you happy.
Last year when I joined MS team the furthest thing on my mind was to be a member on a second dragon boat team. Because of your leadership and teachings it was the reason joining the Seadog family. In my view you are the best! Thank you so much for all your encouragement and support.
Good luck and best wishes in the new role with DCH and competing.
Cheers to success Coach! 👍
