On Dougal we have successfully used the type made of Stainless Steel with large loops on the top that fits into keyhole style deck fittings.
We have two sets of deck fittings near the cockpit aft of the winches on either side.

We have a terrible thing, it hangs over the side, has lost one stopper so has a bit of foam to protect the hull. But it works and costs nothing

I don't have an actual picture but these are very similar. Note the optional deck fittings at the bottom of the page.
