Hi
I would like to go up the Exeter canal but I am struggling to find out what the air draft for no 57 Timorley would be. It is not listed in the original brochure.
Regards

Sadly there is no standard answer. Main masts and particularly mizen masts vary, according to what was available. If you have ever rafted up next to several other SeaDogs you can clearly see the differences. From memory Dougal was about 32ft but may be slightly more now as we increased height when we replaced the mast for in mast reefing.

I know that Pavonias no 65 mast is longer than the the Hull by at least 2 feet don't forget the maststep to water line why not tie a line to the main halyard pull it up the mast then measure it and add a bit for aerials ect

Hi
Brilliant resposes.
Looks like it will be too close to the 10m limit.
Better  to lock in at the Turf inn and motor up in the dinghy.
Also looking to go up the Manchester Ship Canal at some point.
Regards
Ian

We once took Dougal up the Auray river in Brittany, that took some serious calculations. One bridge in particular at low water there wasn't enough water to float, at high water not enough air draft under the bridge. We had to go up on the rising tide and come back on the falling tide, the stream was too strong to do it the other way!
