RSVP Now for Connected Community:
A Broader, Bolder Approach to Transforming Atlanta Education
You are invited to a special event that connects you, celebrated education scholar Pedro Noguera, and a panel of Georgia's education luminaries in an important dialogue. Can we realize the dream of excellence in education outcomes for all students, regardless of their zip code, by tinkering only within the walls of the schoolhouse? Or will it take more? How does every citizen and community member contribute to the successes and failures of our schools and students?
If these questions intrigue you, take three simple steps now:
1. RSVP today to reserve your seat
2. Visit the website to learn more: Connected Community: A Broader Bolder Approach to Transforming Atlanta Education
3. Join us on the evening of Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 7:00pm - 8:30pm in McCain Chapel on the campus of The Westminster Schools at 1424 West Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta, GA 30327.
This event is free, open to the public, and is generously sponsored by the Odyssey Circle of Friends, the Zeist Foundation, The Westminster Schools, and the Center for Teaching. Whether you are a parent, teacher, principal, central office leader, or policymaker; whether your school is public or independent; whether your home is in APS or in a suburban or rural district, we know you will take away new insights and ideas about how you can be part of a broader bolder approach to transforming education!

Have you talked to Beth about her desire to serve in a leadership role with SEACS?
I think this could be a good thing as long as she understands that we still want to move forward with creating a Coan cluster parent/community network organization because that would give our sub-sector of the Jackson cluster a representative voice in SEACS.

Retraction Action
I apologize for sending this email message to the SEACS list-serve because it was not intended for this virtual community. It was for my colleague Garry.
Our foundation has supported children, youth and families in the Edgewood neighborhood for almost two decades and the support has focused mostly on Whitefoord Elementary and Coan Middle schools; however, we are expanding our scope and hope to strengthen the schools in the Coan sub-cluster (i.e. Coan MS + Burgess Peterson Academy + Toomer ES + Whitefoord ES) in 2012-13 and beyond.
If the Coan sub-cluster is strengthened, then the SEACS organization will have a strong base to build on from the “northern side” of southeast Atlanta communities.
Apologetically,
Atiba
