Sorry for the spam, but we need an answer this week.  Please let Barry know if you're planning on joining us on playa.

Short Story:

IF YOU INTEND TO WORK ON THE SEACORE PROJECT THIS YEAR YOU MUST:

IF YOU INTEND TO CAMP WITH SEACORE AT BURNINGMAN 2012 YOU MUST (BY FRIDAY AUGUST 3RD):

  • Also:
    • Details about camp location, membership & social contract below.

Long Story:

Welcome to one of the only messages you're going to receive about making the SeaCore Camp happen. I've run camps for 5 years now, and (standing on the shoulders of giants) have got a pretty solid camp plan. The goal is to make camp a comfortable place which doesn't require too much work to manifest.

Camp will be placed "around" 2:44 and D; location will be communicated back from the first arrival team. Camp will provide a kitchen, a meal plan, a shower, chill space shade, tent shade, water, waste water disposal, minimal power, waste disposal (mostly)

CRITICAL INFORMATION:

To understand the camp plan fully, I've written up this document detailing it. Please read it, especially before asking questions. I hate to say ":RTFM".

This questionnaire will help me with logistics around camp layout, chores, food prep, etc. IF YOU DO NOT FILL OUT THIS FORM (or have someone else fill it out indicating you're on the same travel & tent usage plan), YOU WILL NOT BE CAMPING WITH SeaCore.

CAMP SOCIAL CONTRACT:

This is on the form above, but I thought it'd put it here to make sure everyone hears it. This is what ensures we all get the experience we want, and informs people of the effort they are expected to contribute to play along with this experience:

  1. My camp fees are $100 + food + stuff transport + shade cost
  2. I will pay my camp fee by August 19
  3. if I fail to attend on-playa loading (that I am scheduled for, without good reason), I will pay a $200 fine
  4. I will attend SEA truck load/unload if at all possible
  5. I will sign up for and perform a ~6hr "camp bitch" shift at BRC, &  help appropriately with camp setup and/or teardown
  6. My  personal stuff to be transported back will be packed on playa by Sunset sunday
  7. I will only use the provided bug-sprayers in the camp shower
  8. I will help proportionally with pre-playa prep including cooking, gear prep, shopping, etc.
  9. I will follow camp waste disposal guidelines including sorting into landfill/burn/metal/recycle/glass, taking home my own used glass and compressed air containers, MOOPing my camping area, putting  only grey water in the waste tank;
  10. I will take seriously requests to rest, eat, and drink water when suggested by my campmates;

CAMP MEMBERSHIP:

I only know about the people listed after the end of this message. I will need to get agreement from Steve B that everyone is participating in the art project before I can confirm inclusion in camp, unless you've already gotten an exception. If you aren't on this list, or you represent more than 1 person, please make sure that you put names in the questionnaire. We're aiming for ~ 30 people in camp.

CONCLUSION:

I love camp. I love logistics. I love providing a space in which great things happen. I hate reminding people about responsibilities (and yes, that sometimes means I fail to remind myself).

I'm looking forward to this year. Let's make it a good one!

Wh00p!

Barry, your quasi-benevolent camp lead
