Hi seabirders,
Some exciting news brewing re longliners, The RSPB/Birdlife are involved in trialling 'hook pods', clever little devices which completely cover baited hooks until they are about 20m below the sea surface which then open up, beyond any tubenoses reach. Visitors to this year's Uk Birdwatching Fair should be able to see them in Marquee 4. They would remove the need for tori lines too. They are being built by a UK company called Fishtek.
