The latest on Murfreesboro's radioactive dump:

Appears decisions have to be made at the State level. So, even more imperative that you call the politicians.

Also, an online petition:

All,

In case you have not caught this news, apparently low-level radioactive materials have been dumped at Walter Hill (this link is to Google Map's to Walter Hill Elementary School.  If you zoom in, you can see the Middle Point area to the lower right of the map) for over two decades apparently. This might be affecting Murfreesboro's drinking water.

"In addition, he has asked EPA officials to ensure the safety of the city's water intake system, which is located a few hundred yards downstream of Middle Point."

Bart Gordon, the U.S. Congressman for this district, seems to be on the case:

I encourage you to call and/or e-mail the following to express your concern and ask for clear answers and analysis:

* U.S. Representative Bart Gordon - (615) 896-1986 ; bart....@mail.house.gov

* U.S. Senator Lamar Alexandar -
(615) 736-5129 ; http://alexander.senate.gov/index.cfm?FuseAction=Contact.Home (Online contact form).

* U.S. Senator Bob Corker -
615-279-8125; http://corker.senate.gov/Contact/index.cfm (Online contact form).

Please also consider contacting Tennessee State-level politicians:

* TN State Representative (district includes Murfreesboro): Donna Rowland - 615 741 2804 ; in...@donnarowland.com

* TN State Senator (district includes Murfreesboro): Bill Ketron -
(615) 741-6853 ; sen.bil...@legislature.state.tn.us

* TN Department of Radiological Health - Director Eddie Nanney -
615-532-0364 ;

Here is a sample letter.  Best if you write your own for your calls and e-mails.

Let's make our politicians and civil servants rectify this -- remember, they work for us.

Boyd

"Lamar,

We at the Jones Residence (Jim, Cindy, Boyd, Jacqueline and Suzy) are outraged that low-level radiation has been dumped at Walter Hill for decades -- and that this is probably affecting Murfreesboro's drinking water!  Please follow the lead of Bart Gordon and get to the bottom of this.
