Save the Date APIASF Higher Education Summit Series June 27 – 28, 2011

As a part of the APIASF Higher Education Summit series, the Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) will be hosting the APIASF College Completion Forum: Strengthening Institutions that Serve Asian American and Pacific Islander Americans on June 27 - 28, 2011 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. This two-part forum will bring together a group of multicultural political leaders, higher education researchers and administrators, representatives from the private and government sectors, community organizations, foundations, and students, to generate an active dialogue on the national college completion agenda and its impact on the APIA community. The  presentations and special reception on Monday, June 27 are open to the public. The second day of the forum  on Tuesday, June 28 will be a special working group session that is by invitation only.   The schedule for June 27 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. will: Include an overview of new research from the 2011 CARE Report presented by the National Commission on Asian American and Pacific Islander Research in Education; Feature a special keynote speaker. Discuss the national college completion agenda and its impact on the APIA community; Highlight the APIA student experience; and Recognize the work of the members of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) and the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders with a special reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. co-hosted by APIASF and the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS).   The working group session on June 28 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. will: Assess existing initiatives intended to support APIA college completion and the role of various stakeholders in increasing APIA college completion; Collaboratively build strategies to facilitate college completion among APIA students; and  Identify ways that strategies can be implemented and evaluated to guage future success.   Please save the date for this important event and look for additional information coming soon.
