Hi Nick,

You may be able to help with this, or know who can.
I am assuming the email below is connected with the se5 Forum, it may not be
FoRPs gmail account seems to have become mixed up with se5-organisations and their googlegroups . As you can see the email attached thinks the FoRP account is a moderator for se5-organisations.  We are also now getting email from other parties which has nothing to do with FoRP, and is not parks related.

I could of course just unsubscribe but that does not get to the heart of the problem which is being added to mail lists without being asked if we want to join them!

Dear All,

I have invited and added all local organisations to this email groups when we were cross communicating local issues with local organisations to generate a local campaign to share local resources. For the camberwellcool campaign in 2013, http://goo.go/v1lWjs

All this info was distributed but I see benefit in refreshing memories.

There are several email groups for different focus groups and as some do overlap in member lists you are right in getting confused. No worries if you as a member of any organisation are receiving emails from those groups, only one email was signed up from each organisation and your own groups would not be affected.

The picture might be clearer if you have a look at the list of groups; the names are quiet self explanatory;
- se5-organisations
- se5-youth
- se5-parks
- se5-art
- se5net (for volunteers)
- se5-cic ( CIC for community interest company, that was to make joint applications for funding to promote the area)

These are all self moderated groups and each member can modify both their subscription and notification preferences by following the instructions in the footnotes of the messages they receive.

Such as: "You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Camberwell Business Network" group.

There are also moderated groups I know of from my earlier involvement with SE5 Forum Board. Some of them are Se5-cbn for traders, se5-high-street-bid as the name suggests, se5-etc If you are interested please contact SE5 Forum / Camberwell Business Network for those.

I hope that it helps to be for you in touch with peace of mind. If you really feel that you are offended by being included in this email, there was no other aim than keeping the comminity together.

Dear Bora,

Thank you for the explanation. You are right, it is confusing to start getting emails from a new source about things that do not relate to parks and green spaces. FoRP may well have been part of the Camberwell is Cool campaign and thus been added to a google group list. I wasnt on the committee in 2013.

I hope that these lists se5/cbn created are not mismanaged and used for publicity by other specific campaign groups, such as you describe above. There is a legacy management issue here in the security of databases created for a specific purpose being misused subsequently. Please note I am not suggesting they have been.

The FoRP email address is now unsubscribed from all the googlegroups associated with the messages we recieved. That may seem counterproductive but FoRP doesn't need to know about the latest production at the Blue Elephant Theatre, or if someone in the Camberwell Society wants to be on their mail list.
