Hello,

I am going on holiday in your area in April. Unfortunately, the holiday
home does not have Wifi/Ethernet. I have a USB modem for my laptop (with
T-Mobile UK) but it costs too much to use for data in other countries. I
have a Nokia E61, and I hope that I can buy a Swedish pre-paid SIM card
when I arrive (or before, if anyone can tell me how to buy one) but will
it allow me to use it for data? I've looked at the Telia site, but I
can't find any help in English.

Sorry to intrude in your group!

Hard to say if any of our own operators will allow you to transmit data from
an anonymous account. I don't think that's possible, but you're better off
if you contact them direct:

tre.se
telenor.se
tele2.se
telia.se

etc.

Thanks. I'm sure it's possible to buy a SIM card (not a monthly contract)
when in Sweden and put it in my Nokia, but I'm not sure if it can be used
for data. I have ordered a card from tre.se, but I'm sure they will not
send it, as there is no space to enter 'Country', and it did not ask me
for payment (99 kr)!

Do you know a Web site that will allow me to translate from Swedish to
English? Babelfish and Google don't offer Swedish.

Thanks again.

Why don't you buy it once you have arrived in Sweden? I think every city, no
matter how small it is, in our country have at least one shop that can sell
exactly what you want.

No, I do not. Try instead to write a letter in english to the customer's
service (or whatever "Kundtjänst" translates into in idiomatic english) in
which you explain what you're looking for.

Thanks. I had read comments elsewhere that gave me that idea, but I shall
be arriving in Malmö late on Saturday, and it would be nice to have it
ready beforehand!

Good idea. Thanks for your help.

You probably won't be able to get it on Saturday then. But keep in mind that
several shops in the tele-communications buisness almost certainly will be
open on Sunday, at least for some hours during the day. Try some of the
malls in the city of Malmö. "Hansacompagniet" in the city centre is a good
bet.

Thank you very much. I did not know that shops would be open on Sunday. I
am staying 20 km south of Malmö.

I have received confiormation of the Tre Sim card - it appears that I
will have to pay the postman when it arrives. I hope I can use it!
