Communication Cluster Council: The Oregon Conference, March 15th

These are the notes from the Communication Cluster Council which was about the up coming Oregon GA or Conference and is first organizing meeting.
MEETING NOTES:
Sunday, January 15 – (Shiva, Antonio, Michel, and Nyck were in attendance)
There was a confusion about where this Oregon Conference will be held.
Contact Jaime from Astoria, or anyone from Salem who can clear up the doubt.
Occupy pdx will host occupiers, activits and organizers for this event.
Venues:
it was suggested that we occupy a national park. Forest park is not national so they wont have laxed tent rules.
Theres a park 10 blocks away from St Francis- whats the name?
Conference activities and Cmmtte assignments (these tasks are not
really assigned, but is a brainstorm of possible matches for activities
and is not official without consent:
Discussion Panels – Our School
Workshops – Information Cmtte, The Quakers Non-Violent class, Webteam, Solutions Cmte, Outreach
Silent circles – Rainbow Family, Tribes
Food – Food Cmtte
Housing – Neighborhood assemblies ( to house those who are unable to physically camp in the elements)
Marches – action cmte
Live concerts – Nyck
Games – Nyck
GA – Facilitator cmte (we plan to invite our state wide guests to our
GA . What changes should we make to the GA, if any should be made, when
having so many attending? Spokes by Cmtes? or by cities/occupations?..
Kids Camp – dont know who to assign, ask coordination group
Critical thinking and communication – Liam has that class
Other ideas:
*Agenda setting – send out notices to ask all participants what they
would like to see in this conference. What do you want to get from
attending? What things need to be discussed/planned?
*Ground Maintainence – to keep the land safe and clean, recycling and trash police – Sanitation cmte and Engineering cmte
*On the first day the Peace and Safety Cmte holds the first training to explain rules, responsibilities and emergency situations
* We should have a Feather Circle in the agenda
*we should play ’capture the flag’ and ’tug o war’ with a lesson attached – consult outreach cmte and action cmte to help
*Music – Shamus, Mike Crenshaw, The Illuminaries, Acheron Flow, make contact with artists from the Occupy the Dream concert
*The organizers of the Health Clinic should be involved
*advertisement on the radio, Kboo, newspapers
*Show ”The Corporation” documentary !!
*Should we combine the conference with our GA or keep them separate
* Theater – Puppet show, TUPAC should do something on stage, Gorilla theater throughout the event
*Invite Paul Cienfuegos for a specialized seminar
*Have group yoga in the daytime
*”Thrive” documentary
*Sauna/Sweatroom
* Skill share and Teach ins
*B Media documentaries
