Hello SDYC J/22 Fleet Members,

 

I hope this finds you all well and still able to leave work early on Wednesdays!  The CRA Beercans are over and ours are just beginning.  Over the next 9 or so weeks, we will endeavor to get a lot of racing and starting in – last year they got over 65 races in during the fall thanks to OAs Darin Hayden and Dick Denzler.  There are nine boats – which doesn’t seem like that many, but in the little cove, things do get close.  With room for almost thirty people on the boats every Wednesday, this could prove to be quite a series.  Spectators are welcome to bring wine and cheese out to the end of E dock and watch the boats sail while the sun is setting, snap photos, harass or cheer for your friends, etc.  You can even “phone in” drink orders and your friends can bring out the round since we are a just a stone’s throw from the Club Bar.

 

We could use volunteers to grab the marks off the end of E dock and set a line and start up the tower tooter OR we can make a Club Whaler (and cooler full of ice, BYOB) available to set and change courses, call a real line, and keep score – whatever you want to put together.  If someone is interested in volunteering to take the lead on being the Organizing Authority for the series, more’s the better. 

 

If you don’t have crew already lined up, talk to your fellow Fleet Members and build a team – or talk to someone who is still jonesing to go sailing after work until early October.  If you want a boat, please make a reservation and check the Fleet Calendar to make sure someone hasn’t beaten you to the last one.
