Hey all—

This Thursday (November 17th) will be the National Day of Action in support of the 99 percent. People in cities all across the country will be hitting the streets again to protest against the corporate greed of the 1 percent and to highlight the decaying infrastructure and lack of jobs that plague our communities.

Here in Milwaukee we will meet at Carver Park, a location close to the I-43/North Ave bridge, to call attention to the need for serious infrastructural improvements in Milwaukee.

We're in an economic crisis. Our communities need: jobs, not bombs; education, not occupations; safe streets, not police brutality; healthcare, not warfare; a bailout for the people, not the banks. The only way we'll see these changes happen is if we demand them! Please join Occupy Milwaukee for this demonstration on November 17th and make your voice heard!

Also, on Thursday night, come out to the Fireside Lounge for an evening with Toussaint Losier. As a doctoral candidate in the History Department at the University of Chicago, Losier seeks to bridge the worlds of academia and activism. His research focuses on mass incarceration, grassroots mobilizations, and the postindustrial North American city, and he publishes his writing for both popular and academic audiences. He helps to organize with Graduate Students United. Off campus, Losier helps to organize foreclosed tenants and homeowners with the Chicago Anti-Eviction Campaign and teach English to formerly incarcerated individuals at St. Leonard’s Adult High School. He also coordinates popular education for Southside Together Organizing for Power (STOP). Losier speaks on a range of issues, including environmental racism, graduate student labor organizing, mass incarceration, international solidarity, and anti-foreclosure organizing.

Finally, if you have not done so already, stop by the SDS table in the Union on weekday mornings and afternoons to sign the petitions to recall Scott Walker and Rebecca Kleefisch. We cannot let them ruin Wisconsin any longer!

Dare to Struggle, Dare to Win.
