Hey Everyone,
We have some events coming up, most importantly, Karl Rove is returning tomorrow, and you better believe we'll be out there to protest. Please join us as we fight back against Rove's abuse of student funds.
Protest Karl Rove at UWM
Monday, April 25 · 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Outside the UWM Union
The College Republicans at UWM are illegally using $25,000 in student fees to pay for a war criminal while locking out UWM students from attending. We demand the UWM Student Association immediately revoke the honorarium awarded to Karl Rove!
While Governor Walker and the right-wing is slash funding for education and raising tuition, The UWM college republicans are wasting $25,000 of our tuition/fees to bring a billionaire war criminal to our campus for the SECOND time.
Karl Rove, Senior Adviser and Deputy Chief of Staff for the Bush Administration, established the White House Iraq Group, the organization responsible for developing the White House’s strategy of fooling American people into thinking Iraq posed a threat to the United States.
In addition to presiding over years of bloody war and occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan, Rove helped devise a strategy to cut funding for hundreds of thousands of college students. The Bush administration reduced federal college funding for over one million Americans.
An institution with a Chancellor that sets goals to provide "higher education access to the broadest possible audience" should not allow a billionaire anti-education war criminal to take tens of thousands of dollars away from our school.
UWM students, faculty, workers, and community members are taking a stand to demand war criminal Karl Rove has no place at our reputable university, and no right to our tuition money.
DEMANDS:
We demand Karl Rove return the estimated $50,000 of our money given to him by the College Republicans for his two visits. This money would be better spent as a scholarship to Iraqi children who were wounded, made orphans, made refugees, or whose schools were destroyed under Rove's illegal war.
We demand the Student Association stop funding war criminals.
