Sunday, August 28 · 9:30am - 6:00pm
Kent College of Law, Room C50 565 West Adams Street Chicago, Illinois At the invitation of the White House, military and civilian representatives of the 28-nation U.S.-commanded and largely U.S.-financed North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and heads of state and finance ministers of the G-8 world economic powers are convening to Chicago, May 15-22, 2012. The U.S./NATO military behemoth enforces the interests of the global great power elites. $Trillions are expended for never-ending wars and occupations while $trillions in austerity programs are extracted from working people the world over. The G-8 nations, the richest on earth, will assemble to plan ever new draconian measures seeking to resolve the problems created by their crisis-ridden and profit-driven social order at the expense of working people and the poor everywhere. Theirs is an agenda of austerity and war, ours is an agenda for humanity's future. Peace Action WI 1001 E. Keefe Ave. Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Join SDS, Peace Action Wisconsin and other community allies as we watch and discuss the movie The Killing Floor this Sunday, Aug. 28, 5:00pm, at Peace Action (1001 E. Keefe Ave.).
Amidst our plans to protest a Nazi rally in West Allis this Sept. 3, this is our opportunity to have a much-needed discussion on race and racism within social movements. The Killing Floor is the true story of Frank Custer, a young black man from rural Mississippi who came up north in 1917 and ended up working in a Chicago meat-packing plant. It's a very good movie about Chicago's labor wars of 1919. Anti Protest Rally Against the KKK/ Neo Nazi's
Saturday, September 3 · 9:30am - 12:00pm
Red Arrow Park (Downtown, Milwaukee); West Allies City Hall
1000 N Water St; 7525 West Greenfield Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53202; West Allis, WI 53214-4688 The location has still not been finalized completely. However, the LUV Brigade will be organizing a rally to combat the KKK/ Neo Nazi's message to OUR community... There will be a two part session; which the first will be a public education piece and the second a March/ Protest. The original plan for these oppression groups where to come directly to Milwaukee, so our mission and primary target is Milwaukee relevant. Therefore, our first piece will remain in Milwaukee, but we will take the March to wherever the oppressor is at. This is a chance to show America, and these race hating groups that we have a obligation to our community and would not be disrespected and paraded around. In case you missed the article here it goes: http://whitereference.blogspot.com/2011/08/national-socialist-movement-to-hold-in.html We could use all the help possible from grassroot organization, program organizations, community leaders, and just caring citizens. In response to recent incidents in the city of Milwaukee and outside surrounding areas, there has been a lot of tension within the communities at large. Just recently in State Fair’s incident there was reports of racial hate crimes between black and whites. As this gained media attention, a couple of local Politian’s has went on cultural attacks toward the community. This publicity has gained attention of white oppression groups who stated they have been contacted in overwhelming numbers, and have deemed it upon themselves to take action against the black community. We have seen through history the strategy that oppression groups have used to divide and concur a race, class, or section of people through Intimidating. This organized movement is not only aimed at combating these white oppression groups, but the legal system at large. We will address police brutality, racial profiling, abuse of rights, improper misconduct, etc. wthin our society, and how we are still facing these same intimidating tactics which these white oppression groups chant in their message. We will speak out about the issues of poverty and social injustice, which has been and continues to be the key component to holding people in containment; away from the proper resources, funds and opportunities to growth. The purpose of the March/ Protest isn’t to only distract and derail the opposing side’s message, but to come on a unified street/community lead effort, against any form of oppression. This is not a matter against race, but anti-oppression. No longer will we the community stand back in silence, and continue to be disrespected, disenfranchise, and disregarded to the conditions of our society. We will unify through peaceful chants, songs, drums, and righteousness in our hearts. L.U.V. BRIGADE |
