Wednesday I was in Las Vegas and attended a meeting of Las Vegas Ruby User Group (meetup.lvrug.org). Great group with a super meeting location (InNEVation Center). Check it out, they love to have visitors. They have a Hack Night or meeting every week!

If you're new to programming, can drop a C-note, and can get to LV May 17-19, you could attend their rubyweekend (rubyweekend.com) to get a quick start on becoming a Rails web developer starting from scratch. I promised to mention that.

Justin,
I would be interested in a SD Ruby weekend  event. I'm currently at the Las Vegas RubyWeekend. Thanks for the info, great course and great people.

That's a great idea! I think a weekend intensive workshop may be more effective for beginners than sporadic 1-2 hour class sessions.  Any interest in SD Ruby putting on such a weekend event?  I know a few people that'd be interested.  I'd be happy to help out wherever I can.

Best regards,

justin

Hi Reza,

I'm glad to hear it went well.  Anything you would do to improve the class?  Hopefully we can get some traction and put on a similar class for San Diego.

Best,

justin

FYI, Justin… a bunch of us from SD Ruby helped organize a two-day Railsbridge workshop back in March.

It went really well and we're hoping to do another one soon. If you're interested, you should chat with Alex Boster, who was the main organizer of that event.

Hi Patrick,

I need to get out of my programming cave more often, Railsbridge is awesome.  I was mainly interested in developing reusable course materials for such classes. It's a great sign when the community is one step ahead of you :) http://curriculum.railsbridge.org/curriculum/ .

I'll shoot an email to Alex, I'd be happy to lend a hand wherever it's needed.  Thanks!
