How do I use SDRTRUNK as a basic conventional frequency scanner?

I would like to be able to monitor just a few VHF local frequencies. I am very familiar with setting up SDRTRUNK for monitoring P25 simulcasts. But clueless on how to set up for just conventional VHF freqs.

you can listen to VHF with the NBFM decoder....BUT....there is no squelch function in this software.

On the SDRTrunk page at GitHub, you can see in the forum that even DeShire, about 4 yrs ago started talking about making a squelch for SDRTrunk, but they never did. And I don't think it will be anytime soon, b/c DeShire said he is too busy with work to do any development on SDRTrunk this year.
