Thanks for the hard work on this update!

I did not see it noted in the release notes... is SDRplay supported in this release?

SDRplay will be in the next release.  I have some code work/cleanup to do in overall tuner management before I add SDRplay into the mix.

Jeff ... is there a difference in OS versions between the two systems or are they both running the same configuration?

For whatever reason, sdrtrunk is not finding the new OSX aarch64 library.  Are you copying the sdrtrunk release to the system and unzipping it there, for each installation?

Same OS version. Relatively similar configurations (one is a new MBP, the other one is one of the original M1 Mac minis).

However, prior to this release, I was trying to run some of the pre-beta branch releases with the gradle compilation method, and somehow I was successful in getting the MBP (laptop) to run, while I was never able to have any success with the mini (small desktop).

Yes, I am copying the sdrtrunk release to the system and unzipping for each installation.

For the MBP, running directly from the compiled release is somehow running into a slew of sandboxing issues and file permission issues I've never seen before. It's as if MacOS has decided to not let me run the code.

On the other hand, I can compile and run on the laptop with no issues at all. (and it works great so far!)

But the Mac mini has always run into this usb4java issue - even with the compiled version. Clearly I've done something on the mini which is causing this, but I honestly thought running from the compiled release would address that issue.

Freezing up with Beta 1 - Heterodyne channelizer, Win 10, quad core 6gb of mem.  Alpha 6 was rock solid on this machine.  Calibrated CPU and updated to JMBE 1.0.9

Not just in this release, but I notice there is a hollow sounding "pop"
noise preceding each transmission, on both P25 and DMR.  Any idea what
causes this?

Denny, could you tell us how to adjust the squelch, b/c I still hear the static
"frying" on a ham repeater, when they aren't talking. And I can't figure out how to change the number in the "Squelch Threshold" box.

Higher CPU use vs v4beta.4.  pi400.  Might be my jdk/jfx...haven't run it on windows yet.  Jmbe 1.9

Where are the new optimization/calibration settings stored?

Denny, on win 10 64 bit, it is constantly losing control channel (idle) and good amount of teardowns right from the start. Also seeing fades.  Was not seeing this with 0.5.0-alpha6. Same pc same playlist.

I am going back to 0.5.0-alpha6 for now unless you have any suggestions?

Thanks

I can't seem to find a place to add a tone for a local Amateur Radio Repeater. (When I use the RR data, our local 145 machine doesn't come up ) But there's a large group of linked repeaters that handle "WARN" that are listed so I tried adding our local WARN Repeater thinking maybe I could change the tone and freq to suit. But it's grayed out, and I can't find a place to add a tone if I add the freq manually. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thank you for your hard work Denny

I'm currently watching the Channel tab Power meter - what units are used for the measurement?  I'm currently evaluating a Bluetail SDR radio which is showing a significantly different - and variable - power level which I'm trying to prove to the dev.

Dave,
On a system with light traffic, it seems to work fine. On a busy system, I'm seeing the same as you are. Lots of teardowns and fades. The events and messages freeze and then seem to output several as if they are being buffered.
Moving back to alpha 6.

Here's my 2cents...

My experience is the same as others. All releases on both PC and MAC work fine. This latest one 050 Beta 1 runs great when the system isn't busy. If it gets busy there are Teardowns that come and go, sometimes as many as five or more at a time. They clear out on their own but there are also short system freezes. Eventually I start missing some transmissions or just half of a conversation and it deuterates to not getting any audio at all even the the events screen see them. I've tried both With and With-Out calibration.
Just incase it means anything... I'm currantly running it on an
System Model        Aspire Z24-890
OS Name        Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
System Type        x64-based PC
Processor        Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9400T CPU @ 1.80GHz, 1800 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM)        12.0 GB

I went back to running Alpha6 and it works great.

Does anyone know how many SDRs that SDRT supports? I currently have 3 Noolecs and I'm looking to get 2 more & put them all in a powered hub. On the three SDRs I already have, I have them in a USD hub with heatsinks slip tied to them & 120MM fan pointed at them. Now that SDRT has squelch, you need more turners if you want to listen to old VHF mid band, as well as P25. And I must say that I am truly impressed with the new squelch capability of SDRT. .... How 'bout it @sdrtrunk Denny, how many SDRs does SDRT support?

There's not really an upgrade process ... simply download the software, unzip and run.

The 'pop' sound that get's inserted before each call audio can be enabled/disabled or change in the User Preferences dialog.

The new calibration settings are stored in the same place as the user preferences settings.  On Windows, this should be in the registry.

There's an issue in beta1 where the channel starts and teardowns are happening sequentially.  This is more pronounced on a busy system where these channel startup and teardowns start to stack up.  I'll have this resolved shortly for 0.5.0 beta 2

The channel tab power meter unit of measure is decibels.  I'd caution against using this value for comparison to measurements provided by other sdr tools or applications because the value is representative only for the current channel sample rate, tuner gain, and tuner sample rate settings.

Each time you change any of these settings in sdrtrunk, the displayed power value will change and you also have to adjust the squelch threshold.

cheers,
Denny

dBm?  Anyway, I'm getting a widely variable RSSI using the BT SDR radio and associated software, and slightly variable RSSI using SDRT and UT2.   Measured RSSI is also much stronger with the latter two programs, and more or less agree with hardware radios monitoring the same system both with the same antenna, and with the attached antenna (I'm ~ 1 mile from a subsite.)
