If you don't need the full 10 MHz of spectrum, you can cut down on the USB bandwidth used by selecting a lower sample rate. There are some trunked sites that have all frequencies within a few MHz of each other, so selecting a sample rate lower than 10 (but more than 2.4) would increase efficiency somewhat.
It's certainly not an unreasonable question/request to have more options. SDRTrunk allows you to select from a number of sample rates when using an SDRPlay device (0.250 up to 10 with a lot of steps in between), no reason the Airspy R2 couldn't offer the same (assuming the device is physically capable of operate at sample rates other than 2.4 or 10).
