RF gain control with RTL-SDR?

I'm successfully monitoring a local APCO P-25 system using my RTL-SDR V3 Blog (Windows 10), so now I'd like to try another - but there's a very high power pager signal right near the control channel, and it's making a mess of the whole waterfall when it keys up. When I use SDR Console to observe this frequency range, I don't see that happening, so I suspect the gain is set too high in SDRTrunk. Does my assessment make sense? And if so, is there a way to control the gain in SDRTrunk? Thanks!

P.S. I understand that it may be possible to use SDRTrunk with my RSP1A, but I'm not a super-user, and building/configuring the software to do that appears to be complex.
