BEAST OF THE EAST 200K
Congratulations to the hearty souls who participated in our last brevet of 2007, the Jamul to
Jacumba 200K. Hereafter to be known as the “Beast of the East 200K”. Riders were reporting
the total elevation climbed over the route as close to 12000 feet! The day was chilly, the sky
clear and the wind out of the east. A typical east county day. Thanks to Dion Dyer, Drew Peterson,
Ron Smith, Kelly DeBoer, John Mestemacher, David Horwitt and Stephane Beaudry (who earned
his R12 with this one) for participating.
STAGECOACH CENTURY
It’s time again for the Shadow Tour Stagecoach Century and we’re looking for volunteers to
man the Box Canyon Rest Stop. The rest stop will be branded with RUSA and SDR banners to
promote our cause! The Stage Coach Century attracts hundreds of riders and it’s a great way to give
back and connect with the San Diego cycling community. In the past volunteers have been given T-Shirts
and a pass to the post ride meal. I’m sure this year it will be no different. If you desire to volunteer, reply
to me off list at mbe...@gmail.com Details of the ride are available at www.shadowtour.com.
FLECHE MADNESS
If you plan on participating in our March fleche, you should join our fleche google group at:
http://groups.google.com/group/sdrando-fleche. Lot’s of good info is being exchanged concerning
the finer points of fleche riding
NORTH COUNTY/LIVE OAK 200K
It’s only three weeks until our first event of 2008, the North County/Live Oak 200K. This is the ride
that started it all and has been our most popular ride. The ride will start at Doyle Park in La Jolla at
07:00 a.m. on the 5th of January. I WOULD APPRECIATE AN RSVP to help with planning, etc. If you
plan on participating or are just thinking about it, drop me a note at mbe...@gmail.com
Now go ride your bike!
