Old post, but I'll respond anyway. On the 17th, some stations
changed to different _actual_ channel numbers (displayed digital
channel numbers are a fiction - part of the dumbing down of technology
for our consumer society).
In my area, the local VHF station shifted its digital signal from
UHF channel 36 back to the VHF channel freed up when they shut down
their analog transmitter, and even shifted to a different tower.
For me that meant shifting to an antenna in the attic instead of just
using a set-top bowtie antenna.
By the way, apparently some of the digital converter boxes do not
have a "channel add" scan mode and have to rescan starting with an
empty list - a design flaw in my opinion, since a rotator based
antenna configuration might have _no_ direction in which all channels
will show up on a scan. Time to take your converter box and monitor,
or your digital television, up to the highest point in the region and
do your scan there.
