1992. Bob moved to the Sierra Nevada foothills in early 1993. He
told me that he sorely misses the *.bertos down here in Sandy Eggo.
Then in July 1994, I fired-up where Bob left off. If you see a
taco shop substantially similar to the bertos suffix which is a
obvious knock-off to the Roberto's original, then please send your
sightings to me at: listm...@slic.cts.com. Naturally, if you
actually dine at one of these fine eateries and fine something
which follows the knock-off theme, please post your accomplishment
in sdnet.eats.

Heard from someone that there is a restaurant in Del Mar which has a
Berto's special on the menu. The ultimate salute to a competitor.

On Carmel Valley Rd is a Robertos. I think they're a little pricey (like
all of Del Mar and North Coastal restaurants). And I've never found their
food to be anything extraordinary.
The same goes for the Robertos on Nth Hwy 101 in Solana Beach.
I had the exciting opportunity to walk down Miramar Rd from a job interview
today (I just missed my bus and the next wasn't due for an hour). At Black
Mountain Rd. and Miramar is a Juanbertos. Last time I ate there (1 year +)
they had good rolled tacos. At Distribution and Miramar Rd is Robertos.
And 2 blocks away on Miramar and Miracrest (?) is another Robertos.
The Albertos located on Mira Mesa Blvd and Reagan Rd is my favorite in the
area. Good prices, good food. But not as good as some in the more southern
parts of San Diego.

I believe used to be a Jack-in-the-Box at Convoy and Balboa . . . The guy
must have read this list and decided to be different.
