Overview
• Formal testing of software-driven scientific instruments
• Several positions open (software QEs, test engineers, testers)
• Estimated start = Between 12/1/08 and 1/5/09
• Work site = San Diego (92111)

Responsibilities
• Reviews, analyzes and attains familiarity with instrument functions
• Composes formal, standards-compliant test documents
• Reviews and analyzes testing documents
• Performs testing, enter defect reports into defect database
• Supports defect resolution with software developers
• Studies and masters some compliance standards
• Other testing-related duties

• Formal, structured software testing

Background Requirements
• Strong academic skills
• Some experience composing formal documents/reports
• Formal education may substitute for some experience
• Superior communications skills, orally and in writing
• Clear and unencumbered speech
• Manual dexterity with both hands
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Desired, Not Mandatory, Skills
• Training in standards-compliant software engineering
• Prior experience with Government regulations
• Training in standards-compliant software testing

Education Requirements
• A.A. Degree in CS, CIS, Math, or Engineering, or
• U.S. Navy nuclear power school plus fleet experience (completion of a
computer programming class is a plus)
