Proxy questions here:
Okay, I installed NAT32 properly - what's up the 60 minute limit deal???
How can you properly evaluate a demo with only 60 minutes???
I need to know now how to configure the second NIC - I used a generic IP
address - 192.xxx.x.xx and the subnet of 255.255.255.0 - do I use the IP
address given to me by my ISP as my default gateway or the gateway assigned
to me by @home? What do I list as my gateway for my other computers
connected via hub (fyi - the networks see the server fine, but no DNS entry
on any website). What do I list as the http/ftp/etc proxy, instead of the
assigned 8080? I want to be able to use all my computers on the network via
my server.....help!
thanks,
Melissa
For the second NIC on your server, you've done all you have to. It just
needs an IP address, ie, 192.168.33.1, and the subnet you used is fine. You
don't need to put gateway or DNS server for it.
For all of your client machines, the gateway MUST be the same as the second
NIC
card in your server (192.168.33.1).
You will also need to put a DNS server in for all your client machines that
are using the 192.168.33.1 gateway.
You can use the same DNS server as the first NIC on your server (it's the
one given to you by the @Home ISP.
You can find out the DNS server for the 1st NIC on your server by typing
'winipcfg' from the run menu in windows 95, or by typing 'ipconfig /all |
more' at the command line prompt within windows NT (note that the '| more'
is to pause the type between screens)
Please tell me if this doesn't work.... Good Luck
