Hi

I presume we will be meeting tomorrow at the usual time.  Will the call in details be the same?

I didn't see any minutes of last weeks meeting.  For the benefit of those who didn't attend, from my own notes I can say that we started to discuss the snapshot of 38 issues which had been submitted prior to December 8.

I had exported those to excel and went through marking in green what I thought had already been discussed and substantial consensus reached upon.  As an outcome of the discussion we added a few more to those.  Specifically issues number 14 and 21.  I'll upload that updated sheet now to the document repository (done: http://sdmx-hd.org/attachments/download/40/issues_snapshot_20091209_meeting_notes_07122009.xls). So people can look them over.

If we can agree on these now then we only have 14 remaining issues.

I had asked that we consider issues 37 and 38 as they impact directly on the trials we are starting with openmrs.

Also in the meeting Patrick explained how the IMR repository had been set up as a separate project within the sdmx-hd site which we all agreed was a good thing.

During the week Patrick indicated to me the copyright licence which WHO have agreed to.  Its not perfect but I think is workable (with some work).  I am sure he will share this with the group soon.

That's all I've got for now.  Gary and Patrick: you might have something to add.

Regards
Bob

PS.  I have still not seen the actual ISO SDMX Standard so its quite hard to make reference to.  Is the page numbering the same as the pdf's on the sdmx.org site?  Does anybody know?

Hello SDMX experts -
(ccing Chris S as he seems to be aware of everything and may have the answers or the right folks to answer the beow)

InSTEDD got funding to deploy indicator-based surveillance aggregation at the regional level in the Mekong basin countries in 2010. The 6 countries in the MBDS network submit data to share regionally; currently in disparate, incomplete and error-prone formats (excel, powerpoint, PDFs)

Our first task is to identify open source packages for collecting and managing the final dataset -we are considering modifications to DHIS2 to make it cloud- deployable for these regional information sharing initiatives. Are there any other packages we should evaluate that you would recommend?

Also, we will have to allow manual input and importing some ad-hoc formats developed in the region, but were wondering if

1- DHIS2 already supports sdmx as a way for it to receive indicator information?; and if anyone in this list is working on that, how can we help?

2- Do you know of any efforts to add SDMX export capability to other indicator based surveillance collection tools (eg and specifically WHO's EWARN (from Johannes S in the goarn team), etc) ? We'd like to automate it as much as possible (eg a MOH staff memeber reviews the monthly data, sees it's OK and by pushing one button off the report goes to the regional network warehouse)

Any contributions we do to any software would end up in public domain, obviously; we are trying to get aimed in the right direction, so thanks for your help!

I am working on this functionality in DHIS2, together with Jo Størset.   Though currently spending a lot of time on sdmx-hd itself, I think its time well spent.  Currently our first use case will be exporting indicators and accepting sdmx data from OpenMRS which we hope to have going end of January 2010.

Bob

Great news Bob!
Are you working on an open source branch of DHIS2 or how are you managing this? ..and is there any way we think we can we help?
Are you working on adding SDMX posting to DHIS2 first, or on the extraction from openMRS? The first one we are interested in for our project...maybe we can contribute.

(Will follow up in separate thread to stop spamming the SDMX-people as this becomes closer to an actual implementation discussion.)
Thanks!

Ghana  is currently preparing to start using  dhis 2 and we will need a more detail brief on how this is being managed to supports sdmx as a way for it to receive indicator information from the National level through to the sub district level.
CAN WE GET ANY TECHNICAL ASSITANCE?

Great.  Will you fire off a quick last minute announcement.  I guess Patrick is holidaying.  I know Linda was interested in participating.

Yes.  Thats why we need at least some form of meeting announcement.  I think we are talking about 15h00 GMT if its the same as last week.

Dear Dominic,

As the SDMX-HD is now maturing, integration with DHIS2/OpenHealthMapper should be there early next year. For the "internal" reporting from sub-districts up to national level, you can already use the native XML format provided, DXF. This will also shortly be updated to a new version, which probably will incorporate some features of SDMX-HD, and transformations between the two formats will be implemented as soon as they are both finalized.

In the mean time, we could assist in setting up a server instance of the application with initial organizational units and indicators.

Best regards,
Knut

Eduardo,
I would suggest you take a look at Country Response Information System (CRIS) as well. There are two versions currently in production (both open-source) and provide data exchange. The PEPFAR version can currently exchange data with OpenMRS using IXF3. Active discussions are in progress with regard to implementing SDMX-HD. I would be glad to provide you with additional information and the online website if you're interested.
