When I implemented Meet Manager Export for my WordPress Swim Team plugin (see http://www.wp-swimteam.org), I started with a known good Meet Manager Entry File and iterated on my code until I could export the same thing from my WordPress plugin. It was a very iterative process but none of it was very difficult to implement however it was very time consuming.
I will say that without access to Meet Manager to test with it will be very hard to do. What I did was create a small swim meet in Meet Manager and once it was all set up (events, swimmers, etc.), I exported the entries file. I then used information from this group (search the archives for links to various Google Docs, particularly those from Troy DeLano (who has documented a lot of the records), to determine how to map the data in my database into the proper fields within the Hy-tek records.
You are welcome to peruse the PHP code for my plugin to see how I generated a Meet Entries file. You can find the bulk of the Hy-tek code I wrote here: http://sourceforge.net/p/wp-swimteam/code/976/tree/plugin/trunk/class/hy-tek.class.php It builds on some SDIF functionality but it should help you get the general idea of the record sequence I was able to get to work.
Hope this helps.
Mike
