Hi Gardeners,

Happy Halloween! A few end of the month reminders:

Discord
If you haven't yet joined Discord, you're missing out on a lot of important info and discussions. Email the admin email address if you need help.

It's My Park Day: Sat Nov 2: 9am-12pm
This is an important volunteer day for our park and garden. Make sure you sign up for one of the It's My Park Day events that we are supporting and come to the garden to help answer questions from other volunteers.
Log Required Monthly Work Hours
The Work Hours Tracking doc is missing hours from most of you. Remember you are required to contribute 2 hours of volunteer work per month in order to stay in good standing at the garden. You may pay a volunteer fee once every quarter (3 months) in lieu of volunteering hours.

Quarterly Plot Inspections
Our first Quarterly Plot Inspections of this season will be completed in Nov. I'm concerned about how many people do not appear to be actively gardening and maintaining their plots now that the weather has cooled a bit. The timeline for the inspection:
  • TODAY: This is your 2-week notice that the inspection will be taking place.
  • Sat Nov 16: I would like to perform the inspections on this day.
  • Sat Dec 14: For any gardners that fail the inspection or are not in good standing with work hours, this is your deadline to return to good standing.
VOLUNTEER INSPECTION GARDENER NEEDED: Please let me (Corey) know if you can volunteer to complete the plot inspections with me. As a reminder, the points we check for are:
  1. Are there plants that are actively being maintained or has the plot been seasonally winterized/solarized?

  2. Has the area been weeded and clear of invasive plants?

  3. Is the garden only using organic gardening materials and plants?

  4. Have tools and supplies been properly stored and maintained?

  5. Is the plot abiding to the garden water conservation policy?

Water Conservation
We continue to get high water usage alerts. While we might be using more water due to fall plantings and the lack of rain, it's a bit concerning how consistent it has been. Please use care to conserve water and watch for leaks.

Next Garden Meeting
The next monthly garden meeting is Sat Nov 16 at 10am under the garden pavilion.
We are not sending invites for garden meetings since events are synced to Discord and available on our garden calendar on the website

Thanks,

Corey
