Hello everybody,

Sorry to disturb you but I would like to get help with sddm and didn't find any better location.

As described in the title, I just installed debian 10.3 onto a new machine and sddm seems to be blocked.

In the log file I only have 3 lines:
      Initializing...
      Starting...
      Logind interface found

I compared to a working installation and I have more lines:

Adding new display on vt 7 ...

Loading theme configuration from ""

Display server starting...

Running: /usr/bin/X -nolisten tcp -auth /var/run/sddm/{b7b0b0cb-c092-4d42-85c1-eddc655cf771} -background none -noreset -displayfd 17 -seat seat0 vt7

[...]

To debug, I would like to compile my own sddm. I installed g++8, git, cmake, qtbase-5-dev but I still have this error:

Unknown CMake command "qt5_add_dbus_adaptor".

Can you please help me to compile sddm (or better to solve directly the sddm problem ;) ) ?

Thanks a lot.

Hello,

For your information, the graphic card was apparently the problem.
Details:
First, I compiled my own sddm to debug it.
I could see there was some problems to detect my monitor and Xorg was not able to start.

Because I know it started with another login manager, I tried without sddm... and Xorg has crashed arround 15mn later.

Then, I replaced the graphic card by an older (and noisy) one: sddm is now working perfectly.

If someone needs to compile sddm for debian, perhaps commands I used will help him: they are in the attached sddm_debian10.3.txt file.

Thanks to the sddm team!
