Hello Debbie and John,

Thanks for your advice. I purchased a 24"  metal stake from Kelley's Korner Orchid Supplies. It is perfect since I can attach it to the outside of the pot and not traumatize the roots too much. I've a attached a couple of photos of my phal and its 22 flowers. I'm a novice and this is my first rebloom 🤗  so this is a real victory for me!

I received this phal as a gift so I do not have an identification for it. If you can provide an id, then I would really appreciate it.

Many thanks!

Lois

Great job growing this very lovely Phal. So glad you found a good stake for it. There are many Phal hybrids out there. You might google phal pink blush and look at images. I found one called Blush Cascade “Kukan Beauty” that looks very similar. Hard to know without a tag.

Regards,
Debby

Agree with Debby! Where did you buy it? If from Home Depot or Trader Joe’s it may be a clone hybrid. Ca’t really tell without a tag. Photo looks beautiful! Congratulations.

Hello Debby and John,

Thanks once more for your advice and kind words. Since there was no tag when I received the plant as a gift, I googled "Phal Pink Blush" as recommended. I found photos of Dtps. Saitama Alliance 'Kazu' (Dtps. Jiuhao Stream x Dtps. Jiubao Breeze) on Orchids.com  which look nearly identical to my plant (see attached). According to the description, this is  a mericlone, and a cross between a phal and a doritis.  Would a mericlone like this be sent as gift from a flower shop?

Let me know what you think!

Yes.  Most phals being sold today are mericlones.  It is a way to mass produce nice hybrid crosses and is used extensively in modern phalaenopsis production.

Yes!  Unless it came from an orchid grower, most florists will likely send a mericlone.

Your plant is beautiful.  Best wishes.

Hi all,
I have one Phal. Saitama Alliance 'Kazu' in my collection, which I bought it from Orchid.com.
I think most orchid grower/nursery uses hybridize method to create new desired hybrids. To avoid big utility bills raising, after choosing some nice/successful new grows, THE REST OF THE BATCH (thousands of so so quality) will be sold UNTAGGED to Home Depot, Costco, etc.
Phal. Saitama Alliance 'Kazu' is very nice plant. Mine has 16 flowers in one curved stem, bloomed two consecutively years, which is very heavy and, me too, have to buy long stake to support it.

Regards,
Daniel
