I gave up on SDC with Flexradio

I tried Friday to get SDC working with my Flexradio 6400M. I had the connection as SmartSDR with Dax and for some reason the screen did not really show the CW Activity that was present on SmartSDR on my computer. I also set it up for both Receivers, and that didn't seem to work either. I eventually found out that I had better success with CW Skimmer than with SDC. Perhaps I expected to high of expectations with SDC. I must say that with CW Skimmer that the display settings is a whole lot more detailed then with SDC. I welcome your thoughts on this. I used the latest version and maybe that was a mistake. Perhaps I should have tried an older version and see if I could get that to work.

I have looked at the SDC and Flexradio instruction manual. But it says that you don't have to set up in SmartSDR CAT TCP or UDP. But I must have done something wrong when initally setting up SmartSDR API. Because when I tried to connect I would get error messages that it could find the radio. But it seems that SmartSDR with DAX didn't really do much for me either. Unfortunately there are not many video's from Flexradio operators connecting SDC to their radio.

This is my API setup for 4 radios. As soon as one comes online it connects.

I cannot locate a UPD Address that will connect with my Flex 6400M. I even went into CMD and logged in as an Administrator and type in netstat -ab and the IP Address of my radio is 192.168.1.182. Yet, when I try to connect with SDC I connect the network address of 192.168.1.184. I am not a network guru. Maybe I am just not meant to use SDC. Maybe I should stick with CW Skimmer and be done with it. In some ways SDC is much to difficult to get it to connect with my Flex 6400M.

Yes I did watch the video. I did create a nickname for my 6400M. And I entered that in. The TCP of 4992  turned blue, when I connected. I received an error message with the UDP of 4995. I tried different UDP #'s up to 5000 and I get a red indicator that it is definitely not connecting. So I really can't proceed any further until I use an UDP # that will work.

I did get SDC to work. One thing I do notice that is different from CW Skimmer is that on the DAX Audio Streams for both my receivers are showing Busy when SDC is operating. Yet, that does not happen when I operate CW Skimmer.

This is because the transceiver can only send the IQ stream in one direction, either DAX or UDP. If CWSkimmer could work via UDP, you would see the same message.

The advantage of transmitting the IQ stream over UDP is that it is independent of the audio system settings and has 32-bit accuracy.
